Welcome to my website and online portfolio!

Get comfortable — stay awhile. I’m Laura Parkinson and currently working as a video producer in NYC. Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, I crossed the border to become a tiger at the University of Missouri. After graduating in 2010 with a degree in Convergence Journalism, I spent a year in rural Spain teaching English and blogging about travel and culture.

Past work includes producing an interactive, community talk show for the NPR affiliate KBIA, in Columbia Mo. At KBIA I anchored the live newscasts, reported spot news and produced in-depth radio features. I have also worked on Food Network Challenge for High Noon Entertainment, a television production company based in Denver, Co. In London, I interned for the video channel of MSN UK filming, editing and feeding Internet videos across the site as well as training editors how to use video effectively.

I moved to NYC with just a suitcase and a determination– and now I work as a video producer at Snippies.In my time off, I take every opportunity to explore New York, and I’m currently serving as the president-elect of the NYC chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association.
